God (when i say God, i could very well be refering to Allah/Buddha/Beelzebub or whatever deity you feel free to worship) knows what the hell i'm likely to write in my blog...i've never had a blog before, never really felt the need to have a blog - come to think of it, it's only from shear boredom i'm even creating this monster!

Do I believe in God? - ?
Does it even matter what I think? - Hell no!
I've delved lightly into this subject before, but someone brought it up, so here we go again.
Organised Religion
I have previously established that I do not like organised religion. Organised religion is more about belonging to a group and partaking in tradition than worshipping any type of higher order of being. So I can say with certainty that I do not like organised religion - nor do I agree with it.
The Bible and/or (insert other mainstream religious text here)
I think it is obvious that all religious (mainstream) texts are and were intended to be taken, more often than not, metaphorically more so than literally. That does not mean that I think they shouldn't be read and followed. Most religious texts, in part, have good morals and ways of living your life by. Of course they're also full of contradictions - but life is full of contradictions. They should be read like a good text or newspaper - read between the lines and get the best out of them that you can Always remembering that there is no truth -just varying shades of grey.
Creationism Verse Big Bang
To me both creationism and the big bang theory can co-exist. One does not necessarily mean the other is wrong. Even God himself had to have some way of creating the universe - it may well have been the big bang. There is always the chance that as we find out more and more about this godforsaken universe we live in that we may be coming closer and closer to our creator.
God and/or (insert whatever deity you feel you need to)
A higher order of being has always been used to describe things we do not know. When there is no other answer "God" is the reason. To me "God" is like a child asking "why?" all of the time and the parent replying "it just is".
Does God exist? Perhaps. Does it matter? Not really.
If you live your life well then no matter what happens during your life you should be accepted into heaven. God is meant to be forgiving - and God knows he has to be. If you believe anything the organised religions claim "their" religion is the only sure fire way of making it into heaven - and with there being so many different religious factions out there at the moment that leaves us with very little chance of picking the right denomination to make it into heaven. So either heaven is empty, in which case, it would be boring as all hell, or heaven is full and God has forgiven all those out there who have jumped on the wrong bandwagon.
I don't believe in God. I believe we are one with the earth. We are part of the animal kingdom. We are no more or no less than every other creature. We die. We get eaten and break down into soil. Our nutrients forms some other life form. Reincarnation? No. Merely the life cycle.
The only trouble with my belief is that it gives so little meaning to life - and for that reason I still cling onto the faint hope that maybe there is something else and that I am wrong. Fence sitting? Perhaps. I think of it more as not believing in God but hoping that there is one so when it all ends there is a reason for it to have begun in the first place more than merely living for the sake of living.
I've seen the life force leave people. I've heard that it is moments like those when you feel most at peace. I do not believe in God - but when I die my last breath will be to Him. When the world has let me down the heavens will be all I have left.
