My Manifesto: The Incoherent Ramblings of a Madman

Someone said to me tonight that they were selfish as if that was a bad character trait to have. I do not think they realised that we are all selfish. Let's face it - we are on this earth for one reason, and one reason only - to reproduce. We are living for the sake of living to ensure survival of the species. All of the menial things we do each day are aimed at survival of the species. We are all selfish.

Those amongst us who claim they are not selfish are deluding themselves. Thinking about others, while a great character trait, a trait I feel that most people lack, but a trait I feel that most people would be much better off having is still a selfish act. We think about how things affect others as a means of bettering our understanding of a situation to better ourselves. We think about how things affect others as a means of bettering our understanding of a situation so as to help them to make ourselves feel like we have achieved some good in the world.

Being selfish is not a character flaw. However, not admitting you are selfish is.
